IPL 2025: Vaibhav Suryavanshi reveals he received 500 missed calls after century against GT

Rajasthan Royals young prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi revealed he received 500 missed calls after he scored a stunning century against Gujarat Titans. The 14-year-old took experienced bowlers like Ishant Sharma, Prasidh Krishna, Rashid Khan, and Mohammed Siraj to the cleaners in just his second IPL game.

The 14-year-old youngster was able to hit the ground running, completing his fifty off just 17 balls. After reaching his half-century, the young lad didn’t take his foot off the accelerator and reached his maiden IPL century off just 35 balls.

He became the youngest to score a century in IPL history and also scored the fastest hundred in the IPL by an Indian batter and the second fastest overall after Chris Gayle. The southpaw smashed eight fours and 11 sixes in his blistering knock to stun one and all as he scored 93% of his runs in boundaries.

“I have been preparing for 3-4 years. And I saw the results too. Whatever was missing, I was able to work on it. All the things that once looked tough became easy. I have realised that it’s important to stay focused,” Vaibhav said while speaking to former India head coach Rahul Dravid.

“I received over 500 missed calls, but I had kept my phone switched off. A lot of people were approaching him after I scored the century. But I don’t like that [having too many people],” Vaibhav added.

On the other hand, Rahul Dravid urged the youngster to keep working hard as the bowlers will come prepared for him in the next season.

“It was a great season. Keep doing what you did, play well, train well. But keep this in mind that next year, all these bowlers will come prepared, more prepared against you. So we too have to prepare, train hard and develop more skills,” Dravid said.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav also scored 57 runs off just 33 balls against CSK in the run chase of 188. The left-hander also scored a quickfire 40 against PBKS after the IPL break.

The youngster scored 252 runs in seven matches at an average of 36 and a blistering strike rate of 206.55 in his maiden edition of the IPL.
