Former Indian women’s cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy reckons Lucknow Super Giants made a tactical mistake in their batting order after suffering a six-wicket loss against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Monday.
She slammed LSG’s think tank for demoting Aiden Markram down the order. The South African batter batted at number five, scoring 31 runs off 25 balls as LSG posted 228 runs on the board. LSG once again changed their opening pair as Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings.
Veda Krishnamurthy said on ESPN Cricinfo while talking about Markram’s batting position, “It was a tactical mistake.”
On the other hand, former Indian all-rounder Sanjay Bangar concurred with Veda Krishnamurthy after LSG’s loss.
He said in the same discussion, “We are not privy to whatever discussions are happening there [in LSG camp]. But there is a huge support staff there with a lot of pedigree. Has everybody tried and brought into one idea is a point that we would like to know for certain.
“When you have so many voices, it is very critical to arrive at a decision and stay true to that for a long time. Give it some time to actually fructify. That is something that has been missing in the LSG camp as far as their choices of batting numbers is concerned,” Bangar went on to add.
LSG have lost their last six games, and they are tottering at the bottom of the points table. Thus, they are all but out of the playoff race in the ongoing season.
Lucknow Super Giants will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Lucknow on Thursday.
