Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has urged the fans and cricket experts to be patient with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after the youngster received his maiden India call-up for the upcoming United Kingdom tour.
Ganguly admitted that the prodigy batter will face tougher challenges in foreign conditions as the ball is expected to seam and bounce more than the Indian pitches.
However, Ganguly backed the youngster to find success and said he has all the talent in this world to succeed at the top level.
“I think we should let him be, he’s just 15-year-old and I don’t think he’ll bother too much about pressure and that’s what we get to see him in the IPL. Obviously, playing for India is different and he will be touring where the wickets will be a little different,” Sourav Ganguly told PTI on the sidelines of an event in Mumbai (via Hindustan Times)
“It will seam and there will be a bit more bounce and a bit more movement with the new ball, so the game is a bit different, but I think he’s got enormous talent, so just let him be, don’t expect the world from him straightaway. Just allow him to settle down because you know he’s got a lot of talent like many others in India,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sooryavanshi ended the IPL 2026 season with 776 runs in 16 matches at an average of 48.50 and a blistering strike rate of 237.30. Thus, he bagged the Orange Cap award along with the MVP of the season. He also won the Super Striker and Emerging Player of the season award.
India will play two T20Is against Ireland, followed by five T20Is against England.
