Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif questioned Ravi Bishnoi’s run up after the second T20I against England. Kaif highlighted that all good spinners have a straight run up and questioned Bishnoi for changing his action on multiple occasions.
England registered a four-wicket win against the visitors to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series at Old Trafford, Manchester on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Bishnoi was not up to the mark as he conceded 60 runs in his quota of four overs. The leg-spinner was taken for 29 runs in the 17th over he bowled by Jacob Bethell and it was the turning point of the game. Bishnoi bowled two back foot no-balls and he was taken to the cleaners by England’s left-hander.
“I am not with Bishnoi, though. A spinner bowling no-balls is a crime. Look at the run-up of some of the greatest leg-spinners. All of them run straight, nobody’s angle is zigzag. No one does like that. Every time his runup changes, action changes. Basics and small things are important. You cannot make basic mistakes. It is his mistake. But are the people in the management also looking at this in the nets? They must be telling him about this,” Kaif said on his YouTube channel.
Kaif said if Bishnoi is in India’s plans for the future, then he should have been part of the team’s final XI against Ireland.
“If Bishnoi was in your plan, then why did he not play in Ireland? If he had gotten a game, he could have made corrections there, and it would have been better for him. Many mistakes have been made. Such situations should not come. You should know your best XI. A leg-spinner did not play against Ireland. Bishnoi should have played. We don’t know our best XI. England was the bigger series, so he should have played in Ireland first,” he remarked.
The third T20I between England and India will be played at Nottingham on Tuesday.
