Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth said Pakistan game is anyway a walkover for India amid boycott threat. The Pakistan government recently revealed that the team will travel to Sri Lanka for the T20I showpiece but they won’t take the field against India.
Pakistan government post read as, “The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan grants approval to the Pakistan Cricket Team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026, however, the Pakistan Cricket Team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15th February 2026 against India.”
Meanwhile, India has a 13-3 win-loss record against Pakistan in T20Is, whereas the Men in Blue have a 7-1 record against the arch-rivals in the T20 World Cup. Thus, Team India has their wood on Pakistan in T20Is.
“Empty vessels make more noise. Pakistan are scared. Now, in the U19 World Cup also they lost. So they are thinking of giving a walkover. Whether they play or not, the game is anyway a walkover for India. It does not matter if they come or not. Asia Cup, they played all the games against India,” Srikkanth said on ‘Cheeky Cheeka’.
India and Pakistan were once again placed in the same group by the ICC and they were all set to lock horns against each other on 15th February at Colombo.
India and Pakistan haven’t played against each other in a bilateral series in the last 14 years due to political tensions between the two countries. The relationship took another huge dip after the Pehalgam terrorist attack in 2025.
Pakistan are in Group A along with India, Namibia, the Netherlands, and USA, and are playing all their matches in Sri Lanka, which is a co-host of the tournament along with India.
