Former Indian batter Yuvraj Singh has rated Virat Kohli as the best player of the current generation. Kohli has been a consistent performer in all three formats of the game and has done a magnificent job for the team over the years.
However, Kohli has been under the pump for his recent form in the red ball format. The talisman could only manage 190 runs in five Test matches against Australia at an average of 23.75. Kohli also could only manage six runs in the Ranji Trophy clash against Railways.
Meanwhile, Kohli was dismissed after scoring only five runs in the second ODI against England at Cuttack whereas he scored 52 runs in the third ODI at Ahmedabad.
On the other hand, Kohli didn’t have a great run in the T20 World Cup 2024 but scored a match-winning knock of 76 runs off just 59 balls in the final against South Africa.
Yuvraj Singh said on Star Sports, “I call him ‘King Kohli’. He has been ‘Mahavirat’ for several years. As far as form is concerned, there will be ups and downs in a career of 15-18 years, but you should see his graph. He’s the best player of our generation, of all formats. There is no comparison.”
Meanwhile, the 2011 ODI World Cup’s Player of the tournament believes Pakistan will have an upper hand against India in Dubai conditions.
Singh added, “In Dubai conditions, Pakistan would have an upper hand.”
Kohli has scored 13963 runs in 297 ODI matches at an impressive average of 57.94 and he is going to hold the key for India in the Champions Trophy.
India will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20.
