The Los Angeles Lakers stormed through to the conference semifinals as they won the first round against the Portland Trail Blazers by 4-1. The Lakers made an astounding comeback after losing their opening game by 100-93. They won the fifth game of the series by 131-122 to seal their berth in the semifinal against Houston Rockets.
Lakers superstars Anthony Davis top scored as he registered 43 points in the game. Davis’ teammate LeBron James, who supported him with 36 points in the match, has stated that Davis has no weakness in his game.
James is proud to see how Anthony Davis has played with aplomb in the playoff stages. It was only the 13 game for Davis in the postseason but he has done a fine job for the Lakers. The 27-year-old looked off colour in the regular season after the resumption but returned to his best in the playoffs.
Davis also scored nine rebounds and four assists as he played at the top of his game in the fifth game of the series. The power forward would look to continue his good form going.
The King said while talking to Spectrum SportsNet, “It’s crazy because I feel like we’re just scratching the surface,” LeBron said. “Just 13 games for him under his belt in the playoff career, not quite sure where I’m at but I know I have a lot more than 13. But just to see what he’s able to do on the floor both offensively and defensively, he has no weaknesses”.
Anthony Davis had also top-scored 31 and 28 points in the first two matches of the series against the Trail Blazers. These are great signs for the LA Lakers as their best two players have found form at the right time. Frank Vogel would hope that these two would continue their sublime form.
The Lakers will play the first game of the conference semifinals against Houston Rockets on Saturday.
