The top ATP players have been permitted to select one training partner while quarantining in Adelaide before the Australian Open. The World No.2 Rafael Nadal has picked Italian young sensation, Jannik Sinner. The youngster has shown the skills to go a long way in his career and the experience of training with Rafael Nadal can help him drastically improve his game.
Sinner had impressed everyone with his skills and he had also won his maiden ATP title at the Sofia Open 2020. The 19-year old Italian had also qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2020 French Open but his journey was ended by the eventual winner, Rafael Nadal.
Meanwhile, Italian Davis Cup captain Corrado Barazzutti believes the experience of training with Nadal will help Sinner grow his game and get to the next level.
Barazzutti said while talking to Italian Sports newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport, “Jannik Sinner will have the opportunity to train with Rafael Nadal in Australia and this experience will make him grow. He will have to deal with the pressure. Everyone expects great results soon and will have ups and downs”.
There is no doubt that Sinner will like to pick Nadal’s brain while training with him in Adelaide. It is well known that Nadal likes to give his 120% in the practice sessions and Sinner will like to grab his opportunity of training with the best.
The Italian will also take part in the ATP 250 event, which will be a perfect warm-up for him before the Australian Open. On the other hand, Rafael Nadal will represent Spain in the ATP Cup 2021 just before the Australian Open. Nadal will be chasing history at the Australian Open and it would be interesting to note his form in the first slam of the year.
The Australian Open will begin on February 8
