Alexander Zverev wants to win his maiden Grand Slam and become the top ranked player in the coming year

Alexandre Zverev have had a great 2021 calendar year, but the 24-year-old German is eager to win more titles in the coming years. Zverev in his recent interview with German channel ZDF spoke about a host of topics discussing mostly how he has dealt with controversies and his future aspirations.

Zverev has had a few off the field issues especially regarding domestic violence issues with his former girlfriend Olga Sharypova and a lawsuit against his former agent. But the 24-year-old has learned to tackle these issues with every passing year.

“I’m older. I have had many events in my life that have brought unrest. I started to learn and deal with it. Now every decision I make is for myself. At a young age I had no control over what was done to me,” Zverev said.

The Tokyo Olympics gold medal winner has fought past all these issues while ATP have started an investigation into his domestic violence allegations. But the German has done everything to clear his name.

“I fought for a year. I’m glad that the topic will now come to an end. I was told that all of this will not take long. We are also taking strong action in Russia against it.”

The 24-year-old has revealed his goals of becoming a better player and a even better person. He wants to have better self belief in his skill. The German wants to achieve more in the upcoming seasons. He wants to win a Grand Slam in the upcoming years and also wishes to become a top ranked player.

“I have made it my goal to emerge stronger from moments like this. If at the end of the day you don’t believe in yourself, who is going to do it?” Zverev added.

Zverev has won the ATP World Tour Finals and has even claimed the Olympic gold medal this year. But the youngster is not happy as he wants to win his maiden Grand Slam and also wants to rise in the ATP Rankings.

“There are two that I haven’t reached yet. To win Grand Slams and become number one in the world. I hope that all of this may already happen in Australia,” the German concluded.

Zverev reached the US Open in 2020 where he almost claimed the title until Dominic Thiem came from behind to win the US Open. Zverev has all the qualities to become a top ranked player in the world but the youngster needs to hold his nerves properly to emerge in tight matches. The German is hoping that the following year will be fruitful for him starting with the 2022 Australian Open.
