Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) will introduce an AI-powered Table Tennis Review (TTR) system during its seventh season, set to take place in Goa from July 9 to 26, 2026, marking a significant technological step forward for the league.
Developed by Gurugram-based Stupa Sports, the official technology partner of UTT, the review system is designed to assist match officials by delivering evidence-based decisions on contested calls in under 20 seconds. Tailored specifically for the speed and complexity of elite table tennis, the technology will be used in every match throughout the season.
The TTR system will be capable of reviewing six key officiating scenarios during matches. These include serve toss height, serve toss angle, serve toss below the table surface, serve toss inside the playing surface, ball hiding during service, and table-edge calls.
To generate accurate reviews, the system relies on 14 to 15 synchronised high-speed cameras positioned around the court. These cameras capture ball trajectories, service actions and points of table contact from multiple angles. An artificial intelligence engine then reconstructs the disputed sequence in near real time, producing visual evidence that officials can use to make informed decisions.
In addition to supporting referees, the review output can also be integrated into live broadcasts, enabling viewers to follow the decision-making process as it unfolds.
The introduction of the AI-powered review system continues UTT’s steady investment in technology and data-driven innovations. Since 2019, the league has progressively expanded its use of advanced analytics to enhance both officiating and the viewing experience.
An AI-powered live statistics platform was introduced in the season following 2019, allowing real-time data collection and the integration of live statistical graphics into broadcasts. The league has since added several other technology-driven features, including live scoring systems, comprehensive player and team databases, updated standings, detailed match statistics, advanced performance analytics and shot-speed tracking.
With the rollout of the Table Tennis Review system across the entire 2026 season, Ultimate Table Tennis aims to further improve the accuracy of officiating while providing greater transparency for players, officials and fans through the use of artificial intelligence and real-time visual evidence.
