Hockey India Opens Player Registrations for Hero Hockey India League 2026

Hockey India has officially announced that player registrations for the highly anticipated Hero Hockey India League (Hero HIL) 2026 will open at 17:00 hrs on 19 May 2025 and remain open until 17:00 hrs on 20 August 2025. Following the overwhelming success of the 2024–25 revival season, the upcoming edition promises to further boost the sport’s profile, both domestically and internationally.

The 2024–25 season marked a triumphant return of the league, featuring eight men’s and four women’s franchises. Over 1,000 players had registered, highlighting the league’s growing global stature and its role in nurturing young talent. Building on this momentum, the 2026 edition is set to welcome registrations from eligible Indian and international players.

The list of participating nations has been expanded, reflecting Hockey India’s commitment to inclusivity and competition at the highest level.

Eligible Nations:

Men: India, Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, Spain, Argentina, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Malaysia, South Korea

Women: India, Netherlands, Argentina, Belgium, China, Australia, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland, Chile, Japan, USA, Scotland

Hockey India President and Chairperson of the Hero HIL Governing Committee, Dr. Dilip Tirkey, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season. “The Hero Hockey India League has been a game changer for Indian hockey, and we are thrilled to continue its resurgence with the 2026 season,” he said. 

“Last season’s response from players and fans was phenomenal, and we are confident that the upcoming edition will further elevate the standard of hockey in India while strengthening our international collaborations.”

Echoing the sentiment, Hockey India Secretary General and League Governing Committee Member Shri Bhola Nath Singh added, “With the success of both the men’s and women’s leagues last season, we are seeing a renewed interest and enthusiasm in the sport. We invite all aspiring and professional players, both from India and abroad, to seize this opportunity and register for what promises to be another landmark season.”

Hero HIL 2026 Player Registration Details:

Opening Date: 19 May 2025, 17:00 hrs

Closing Date: 20 August 2025, 17:00 hrs

As the countdown begins, Hockey India is optimistic that HIL 2026 will set new benchmarks in professionalism, viewership, and international participation.
