Real Madrid’s pursuit of Michael Olise has taken another dramatic turn.
After weeks of speculation, reports from France indicate club president Florentino Pérez has identified the Bayern Munich star as his dream signing and is prepared to move if there is any realistic opportunity to complete a transfer. Despite Real Madrid publicly denying contact with the player only weeks ago, the situation has changed significantly following fresh reports from L’Équipe.
According to the French outlet, Pérez views Olise as the next “Galáctico” and has become increasingly determined to bring the 24-year-old to the Santiago Bernabéu. The Real Madrid president reportedly believes the French international possesses the creativity, flair and technical quality capable of elevating the club’s attack for years to come.
The biggest development, however, involves the player himself.
L’Équipe reports that Olise has privately made it clear he wants to leave Bayern Munich and join Real Madrid this summer. During France’s World Cup campaign, he is said to have discussed the possibility with international teammates Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni while gathering information about life at the Spanish giants. The report also claims Olise has no interest in returning to the Premier League at this stage of his career, viewing Real Madrid as the ideal destination for his next step.
That does not mean a transfer is close.
Bayern Munich remain adamant that Olise is not for sale. Club executives have maintained the same position throughout the summer despite the growing speculation and are instead preparing to offer the winger a new long-term contract that would make him one of the club’s highest-paid players alongside Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane. Bayern’s hierarchy has continued to insist that Olise remains central to Vincent Kompany’s long-term project.
Real Madrid also face significant obstacles.
Although Pérez is reportedly prepared to launch a record-breaking offer if the circumstances become favorable, the Spanish club has no intention of damaging its strong relationship with Bayern by attempting to force negotiations. Multiple reports indicate Madrid would only make a formal move if Olise publicly requests a transfer and Bayern become willing to negotiate. There is also the possibility that Real would first need to part ways with one of its current stars before financing such an expensive deal.
For now, the transfer saga rests largely in Olise’s hands.
If the French international formally communicates his desire to leave, one of the biggest transfer battles of the summer could begin.
