Ousmane Dembélé said Harry Kane is a Ballon d’Or candidate but predicted that the award will go to a PSG player. Dembélé is the current holder of the prestigious award but named PSG teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, compatriot Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane as the potential candidates for the award.

While Kane scored 36 goals in 31 matches for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga in the previous season, Mbappé scored 25 goals in 31 matches for Real Madrid in LaLiga. Furthermore, the French striker scored 15 goals in 11 games of the Champions League. Kane scored a total of 51 goals in as many games in the previous season.

Dembélé said in an interview with L’Équipe, “I don’t think this trophy is unpredictable. I think it will remain in the hands of a Paris Saint-Germain player.”

The French winger said he wouldn’t vote for himself for the award.

“I never get into stuff like that. If I’m the one who speaks, I don’t vote for me,” he said.

Dembélé responded, “I don’t think so” when asked if Lionel Messi would make his shortlist, but revealed that players like Michael Olise, Lamine Yamal, Fabián Ruiz and Willian Pacho are among the potential candidates.

On the other hand, French forward Kylian Mbappe had put his name among the favorites for the award. He said on Monday, “When you play for Real Madrid, the best club in the world, you’re associated with these awards.”

“When people see me in the street, a lot of them talk to me about it … I made a lot of history this summer, in the most important competition. But there’s still a long way to go.”

Kane is one of the favorites for the award, and he said he is proud to be in the race for the prestigious award.

“I’m extremely proud of the season I put up, for sure,” he said in an interview with TNT Sports.

“Not that long ago, I was that fan wanting to become a professional footballer, and I am here now and winning awards, and the Ballon d’Or is the same.”
