Mohun Bagan Super Giant bounced back in style in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) 2025-26 season, cruising to a convincing 4-0 victory over Kalighat Sports Lovers Association at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium on Thursday.
After a disappointing start to the campaign with a 1-0 loss to Police AC in their opening fixture, the Mariners delivered a dominant performance in their second outing. Goals from Sandeep Malik (21′), Pasang Dorjee Tamang (51′), and Adil Abdulla (73′), along with an own goal by Kalighat defender Lenminlun Doungel (30′), ensured a comfortable win for the green and maroon brigade.
The scoring opened in the 21st minute when Sandeep Malik found the back of the net, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Just nine minutes later, Kalighat’s Lenminlun Doungel inadvertently extended Mohun Bagan’s lead with an own goal, giving the Mariners a 2-0 cushion at the break.
Mohun Bagan maintained control in the second half, with Pasang Dorjee Tamang converting a well-worked team move in the 51st minute. Adil Abdulla capped off the evening with a precise finish in the 73rd minute, sealing the comprehensive 4-0 victory.
The Mariners lined up with Deeprobhat in goal, supported by defenders Leewan, Bilal, Inamdar, and Marshal. In midfield, Sandeep, Mingma, Salahudheen, and Karan provided the engine, while Dorjee and Tongsin led the attacking charge.
This emphatic win not only gives Mohun Bagan its first three points of the season but also a boost in morale and momentum ahead of their upcoming fixtures. The team will next face Railway FC on July 7, followed by two more matches before the eagerly anticipated clash with arch-rivals East Bengal on July 19.
With a packed schedule ahead and the pressure of expectations, Mohun Bagan will be looking to build on this victory and establish consistency in its CFL campaign.
