Liverpool Set High Price for Luis Diaz as Bayern’s Bid Falls Short

Liverpool have made it clear that they will not part ways with Luis Diaz unless a club is prepared to meet their valuation. Despite interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona, the Reds have drawn a firm line in the sand regarding the Colombian’s price tag. While Diaz himself has acknowledged ongoing conversations about his future, Liverpool remain adamant that any exit would require an offer far higher than what has been put on the table so far.

According to reports from Germany, Bayern Munich have launched a formal bid for Diaz, but their proposal is nowhere near what Liverpool are asking for. The Bundesliga giants reportedly offered £44 million—well below Liverpool’s minimum valuation of £68 million. From Liverpool’s perspective, a player of Diaz’s caliber, who still has two years remaining on his contract and has been a key figure in their attack, simply cannot leave for a cut-price deal.

Diaz joined Liverpool in January 2022 and quickly became one of the team’s most dynamic forwards. Although Liverpool boasts an impressive array of attacking talent, Diaz has consistently shown his worth, especially during key moments of the season. His contributions last term, including 17 goals in all competitions, demonstrated why the club remains so protective of him.

For Bayern, their interest in Diaz comes after missing out on key targets elsewhere. Their failed pursuit of Florian Wirtz, who opted to join Liverpool instead, has pushed them to reassess their options in the market. Diaz’s versatility, work rate, and ability to impact games from the wing make him an appealing candidate, especially as they look to refresh their squad.

Barcelona have also been monitoring Diaz’s situation but appear to face the same financial hurdles as Bayern. With Nico Williams extending his stay at Athletic Bilbao, the Catalans have turned their attention to alternative targets, Diaz among them.

For his part, Diaz has been open about his situation without committing to a definitive decision yet. In a recent interview with Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez, the winger spoke candidly about his ongoing negotiations with Liverpool. He emphasized his happiness at the club but admitted that discussions were ongoing to determine the best outcome for both sides.

“We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us,” Diaz explained. “But I’m very calm where I am, very happy. Trying to make the best decision now.”
