Mumbai City FC head coach Petr Kratky was delighted after a 3-0 victory against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Mumbai Football Arena in Mumbai on Thursday. Lallianzuala Chhangte missed his chance from a spot kick in the first half but he was able to put his team in front in the 52nd minute.
Subsequently, Vikram Pratap Singh and Gurkirat Singh scored for the Islanders to give them a thumping win. Mumbai had lost their previous match against Kerala Blasters FC and thus it was a much-needed win for them.
“It is always positive when you finish high and win the game, especially going into the break. I am very pleased with what I saw today,” Kratky stated in the post-match press conference.
“Coming back from the loss in Kerala the reaction was great and that is what we were looking for. All players and staff deserve big credit for what they have done with the team and the team performed on a good note today,” he added.
Kratky showered praise on goal-scorers Vikram Pratap Singh and Gurkirat Singh and added that all the players gave their best.
“This is what every coach wants. It is not about starting eleven or fifteen players, it is about all players in the team,” he said.
“We wanted to give the opportunity to Gurkirat (Singh) and he took it. For me his performance was excellent but he needs to keep working hard and ask me more questions to give him more opportunity like everyone else,” he added.
“Vikram is a good person and a good footballer. We give them opportunity if the time is right and if they work hard and have a good attitude,” the tactician opined.
Kratky was delighted with the team’s defensive play and was glad with the clean sheet, which was their fourth of the season.
“Our defense was solid the whole season even before I came. There were three clean sheets in a row. It (Clean sheet) is very important for us. We know exactly what we want and how to defend and if they do it and execute it well it works,” he said.
“So this is the power of the team that we have. The defence was solid again and I am very pleased with another clean sheet this season,” Kratky added.
