Inter Milan will retain a 50 percent cut of Davide Frattesi’s future sale fee from Lazio, and they are prepared to sign Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur.

Inter have reportedly sold the midfielder for €15m, rather than the €30m asking price, due to the clause.

Before this was revealed, there had been some eyebrows when the figures emerged of an agreement between the two clubs on Wednesday.

Inter have set the €30m minimum price tag on the midfielder who was ready to depart. They had already dropped the price from the €40m they had been demanding last season.

According to reports, Lazio agreed to sign the player on loan for €1m, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season if certain conditions are met, for a further €14m.

Sky Sport Italia reported that, as it is now confirmed to be 50 percent, it would raise the player’s value to €30m.

This is a good deal for Inter, which had hoped that Frattesi could raise his profile by playing regularly in Serie A, thereby earning a bigger transfer next summer.

The Nerazzurri signed Frattesi from Sassuolo for €32.8m in 2023.  Considering amortization, selling at €15m would still generate a profit of around €7.5m.

Before reaching an agreement with Lazio, other clubs had shown interest in him. They include Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and Juventus, who were prepared to pay €30m.

In a related development,  Inter are set to sign Spence for €31.5m plus bonus, with a contract to June 2031.

The English club had initially rejected  €30m proposal with claims that Spurs were holding out for €35m plus performance-related bonuses.

However, sources in Italy are all confident the final agreement is €31.5m plus add-ons.

The Nerazzurri had already agreed personal terms with Spence. He is therefore expected to have his medical and officially become their player as the two clubs are now working out the final details on the bonuses and how they will be structured before he can fly to Italy.
