Manchester United striker Benjamin Šeško has backed interim coach Michael Carrick to continue in his role in the next season. Carrick took the coaching reins from former manager Ruben Amorim, and since his arrival, United have looked like a different unit.

The former midfielder was named as United’s coach till the end of the season. Carrick has also played an instrumental role in helping the Red Devils to almost qualify for the Champions League next season. United are on the cusp of securing their place in Europe’s biggest football tournament after a 2-1 win against Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday.

Casemire and Šeško scored for the hosts against Brentford to give their team all three points.

“He’s an amazing coach, I’ve said this many times,” Šeško, who scored United’s second against Brentford, said after the win.

“He’s brought different energy. Also the way we’re doing in the training, it’s unbelievable and of course, I would like to have him here.”

Meanwhile, United need two points from their remaining four games to be mathematically certain of a return to the Champions League, a competition they haven’t played in since 2023-2024.

“We’re in a good place,” Šeško said.

“We have to keep it up like this. We’re looking forward to the next game, to try and secure the Champions League. I’m looking forward.”

Manchester United will next take on Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday. United have ticked the right boxes under Carrick’s tutelage and they would look to carry the good show.
