Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne feels Rohit Sharma is very hard to stop once he gets going. Rohit has all the experience under his belt and he is regarded as one of the best ODI batters of the current era. The Indian skipper is also in fine form in the recent past and would want to carry the good show.
Rohit has amassed 10112 runs in 251 ODI matches at an impressive average of 48.85 and a strike rate of 90.53. The Indian skipper has also scored three double-centuries, the most in the ODI format.
Furthermore, the Indian opener was the highest run-getter in the 2019 World Cup as he had mustered 648 runs in nine matches at an average of 81 and a strike rate of 98, including five centuries.
Rohit recently scored a fine knock of 81 runs off just 57 balls in the third ODI against Australia at Rajkot and he would want to carry the same form in the showpiece event.
“Rohit Sharma is someone who scored quite freely without taking any risks. He’s very hard to stop once get going,” Marnus Labuschagne told FOX Cricket.
Meanwhile, earlier Marnus Labuschagne had toured India for the Border-Gavaskar series and wanted to learn from the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
“As I said to Rohit out there when we were walking. I said ‘I am watching whatever you do, I want to learn. You guys are the best in these conditions. We are foreign to these conditions. You learn from the opposition, you learn from the way they do it. We try and learn and grow with each game,” he had told Star Sports.
In fact, Labuschagne was not named in Australia’s original World Cup squad but he was added to the team after Ashton Agar was ruled out. The right-hander scored 138 runs in three matches at an average of 46 in the recent series against India.
Australia will begin their World Cup campaign against hosts India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on October 8.
