It has been often said by many cricket boffins that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma seems to have an extra second while facing the fast bowlers. India’s veteran umpire Anil Chaudhary added himself to the long list by praising the Indian opener.
Chaudhary lauded Rohit Sharma’s cricketing IQ and said the bowlers seems to be bowling at 120 kmph when Rohit Sharma is on strike but the same bowlers seem like they are bowling at 160 kmph if they are bowling to a different batter.
“You can’t guess his sharp mind from his batting. When he’s batting, it seems someone is bowling at 120 kmph, but when someone else is batting, the speed seems like 160 kmph. He gets involved in a lot of appeals and then says ‘let it be.’ He may seem casual, but he’s not casual at all,” Anil Chaudhary said on the Shubhankar Mishra podcast.
On the other hand, Chaudhary reckons umpiring for Rohit Sharma is easy as he doesn’t play confusingly.
“Umpiring for a player like Rohit is very easy; he’s either out or not out, it’s straightforward with him. He doesn’t play confusingly],” said Chaudhary.
Rohit had led India from the front as he scored 257 runs in eight matches of the T20 World Cup. Furthermore, Rohit was India’s best batter in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, top-scoring with 157 runs in three games at an average of 52.77. But the other batters failed to contribute and thus India suffered a 2-0 loss.
India will next host Bangladesh for two Test matches and three T20Is.
