Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer questioned Ravi Bishnoi’s performance after his expensive spell against Pakistan in the Asian Games 2026 final on Saturday. Jaffer feels the Indian spinner needs to add more variations to his bowling and become less predictable.
Bishnoi conceded 44 runs in his three overs and wicket wicketless, thus he was not up to the mark. Hasan Nawaz, who top-scored with 96 runs, took Bishnoi to the cleaners, smashing him for 20 runs in the 13th over of the innings. The leg-spinner conceded his runs at an economy rate of 14.70 and was the expensive Indian bowler.
Jaffer believes Bishnoi needs to work on his bowling approach after being hit for boundaries.
Wasim Jaffer said on his YouTube Channel, “He is one-dimensional and predictable. He needs to bring in some variety and variation. He has to understand that when he gets hit, he cannot just start bowling faster. That makes it easier for the batter.”
Jaffer noted that Bishnoi tries to bowl faster after getting hit and the bowling coaches, Morne Morkel and Sairaj Bahutule, need to have a word with him.
The former domestic giant concluded, “He tries bowling faster after being hit. That goes against him, as the batter doesn’t have to do much when there is pace. He should take some time and look to break the batter’s rhythm. The bowling coach needs to make him understand that he should not be in a hurry to bowl.”
India will next take on the West Indies in a five-match T20I series, starting Tuesday. Bishnoi is part of the squad and he would look to bounce back strongly.
