Former Indian Test opener Wasim Jaffer showered praise on the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their consistent run in the ongoing IPL 2026. RCB registered a comprehensive nine-wicket win against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on Monday.
Rajat Patidar’s team were able to bundle out Delhi Capitals at 75 after Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged four and three wickets respectively.
Jaffer said RCB is ticking the right boxes with both bat and ball after the reigning champions claimed their sixth win of the season after eight games. The former right-hander reckons RCB will be unstoppable once Jitesh Sharma gets back into form.
“With Hazlewood, the bowling has become even stronger. The batting has been clicking. Bethell is getting a chance. Devdutt is in form, Rajat is in good form. If Jitesh gets his form back, it is a long tournament, I am sure he will also get back in form, this team is looking dangerous and playing like defending champions. There are not many changes from last year too, more or less it is the same team,” he said on his YouTube channel.
The former flamboyant batter said Delhi Capitals will feel disappointed if they don’t qualify for the playoffs while recalling the close matches they should have won.
“These matches will hurt at the end of the season when you don’t qualify. There were two games that Delhi could have won. When you don’t qualify, in hindsight, you recall these games and cry. The first stage is to reach the playoffs. Delhi is a good team overall. But these close defeats may hurt them now. You don’t want a lot of catching up and come into a situation where all games are must-win,” he said.
Delhi Capitals will next take on Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur, on Friday.
