Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has praised the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their consistent run in the ongoing IPL 2026 ahead of their clash against Gujarat Titans. RCB have won six out of their eight matches and they are in second place in the IPL standings.
Rajat Patidar’s team had registered a comprehensive nine-wicket win against Delhi Capitals in the last game at Delhi. RCB had skittled out the home team at 75 and Sehwag jokingly said the Men in Red won’t have felt tired after securing a resounding win.
“Isn’t it great when you sometimes get a match like that, there will be less fatigue. If you have bowled out a team for 70-odd, and then chased it in 6-7 overs, it helps your net run-rate, and they won’t even be tired. It is a good sign, they are in really good form. RCB have maintained their form from last season,” Virender Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
RCB looks all set to qualify for the playoffs and they would look to carry their dominant form.
On the other hand, Sehwag backed the Gujarat Titans’ batters to deliver the godos against RCB’s bowling on Thursday.
“RCB’s bowling is really good, but GT’s batting is also not that bad. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, they know how to play, both are currently playing in the Test team, so it is not like it will be easy for RCB’s bowling. But, if there is help from the wicket, then it will be fun to watch. GT’s bowling also looks really good, they have Siraj, Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, Ashok Sharma, they have options,” he added.
GT will host RCB at Ahmedabad on Thursday. RCB had recently won the reverse fixture against GT by five wickets on last Friday.
