India’s opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was delighted after his consistent performances in the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. India registered a 3-0 series win after winning the final T20I by 35 runs at Harare on Sunday.

The left-hander returned with scores of 50, 20 and 81 in the three games against Zimbabwe. The youngster scored a total of 151 runs in three matches at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 196.10 against the hosts.

Thus, Sooryavanshi was awarded Player of the Series for his consistent performances. 

Meanwhile, Sooryavanshi scored a fine knock of 81 runs off 49 balls with the help of eight fours and four sixes in the third T20I on Sunday. Ergo, he was also awarded Player of the Match for his splendid knock.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi said in the post-match presentation, “Yes, it’s truly a dream come true moment. Getting my first Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards, I’m very happy. My game is the same as what I play in T20 cricket. I was just trying to do that for the team. In all three matches, I tried to give the team a good start. If I got a good start, then I wanted to make the innings bigger. That was my only approach.”

The youngster added that he tries to replicate the same shots in the match, which he plays in practice.

“The shots that I play are the same ones I practise. I just try to replicate in the match whatever I do in the practice sessions.”

Earlier this year, Sooryavanshi had scored a magnificent knock of 175 runs in the Under-19 final against England at Harare. The 15-year-old revealed he really enjoys playing at the venue.

He concluded, “It felt really good. Our preparation was very good during the two or three days after we arrived in Harare. I also played the Under-19 World Cup here, so, everyone backed me – the captain, the coaches, everyone – so I’m very happy.”

Sooryavanshi would look to continue his good form.
