Former Indian batter Subramaniam Badrinath showered praise on Anshul Kambol, calling him the biggest positive for CSK after the franchise registered a comprehensive eight-wicket win against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Saturday.
Kamboj returned with impressive figures of 3-32 in his quota of four overs and thus played a key role in restricting MI to 159-7. The right-arm pacer from Haryana has scalped 17 wickets in nine matches at an average of 15.82 and economy rate of 8.49 in this season of the IPL. Thus, he is the joint highest wicket-taker along with RCB’s pack leader Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Badrinath said on his YouTube Channel, “The bowlers won the game for CSK. The batters just finished the job. Though Samson has scored two centuries, Anshul Kamboj has been the biggest positive for CSK. He takes wickets in the powerplay and in the death overs. Nobody would have believed it if someone said Kamboj would be the best death overs bowler. But he had turned things around by grinding it out and bowling the difficult overs in domestic cricket.”
On the other hand, the former CSK batter also praised Jamie Overton for his performances with the ball. The English seamer has bowled with some steam in the ongoing season and bagged 1-23 in his four overs against MI.
“Overton has been the other revelation with the ball. He has the rare ability to bowl at 147 kph and also 120. Hardik Pandya was clueless against him. Jamie Overton ate Hardik Pandya up and burped after that. Overton has perhaps been the best foreigner,” said Badrinath (via the aforementioned source).
Overton has scalped 10 wickets in eight matches of IPL 2026 at an average of 20.80 and economy rate of 9.04.
Chennai Super Kings will next take on Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on Tuesday.
