Former Indian batter Subramaniam Badrinath brutally trolled Pakistan after Salman Agha’s team suffered a 61-run loss against India at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium, Colombo on Sunday. India posted an above-par score of 175 runs on a slow Colombo pitch, courtesy a match-winning knock of 77 runs off just 40 balls from Ishan Kishan.

Badrinath said he thought Pakistan won’t even reach Ishan Kishan’s score after they were left tottering at 34-4. Pakistan’s top four batters could not even reach the double digits before they were dismissed as Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah were right on the money from the get-go.

Badrinath said on his YouTube Channel, “For a player originally out of the squad to produce a knock like this on a difficult pitch was unbelievable. He was two to three cuts above the rest of the batters. There was a time when I thought Pakistan won’t even reach Ishan Kishan’s score. It was just superlative skill level.”

On the other hand, the former CSK batter slammed Salman Agha’s captaincy, noting the Pakistan skipper introduced leg-spinner Shadab Khan when two left-handers were batting.

“Salman Agha’s captaincy was also terrible. Shadab Khan came into bowl when two left-handers were batting. They kept bowling fast when Kishan was blazing away. Usman Tariq did not come to bowl at all when India were exploding in the first 10 overs. The captaincy was schoolboy level,” said Badrinath (via the aforementioned source).

Badrinath praised the Indian batters for playing spin with aplomb against Pakistan despite a lot of assistance in the track.

“It felt like they assumed India cannot play spin and picked four spinners. India may not be that good against spin in Test cricket. But they showed their ability to play spin in T20s. Pakistan spinners have also been overrated. Usman Tariq pauses and bowls, but it’s all a brainwash.”

India will next take on the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
