Former Indian batter Subramaniam Badrinath believes Riyan Parag is the weak link for Rajasthan Royals as the skipper is struggling with his form and fitness. Parag is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, and he said that he was not supposed to play the last league stage match against Mumbai Indians, but played with mental toughness.
Parag was dismissed after scoring 14 runs against MI. The right-hander has managed 272 runs in 12 matches of IPL 2026 at an average of 24.73 and a strike rate of 152.80.
Badrinath said on Star Sports, “Honestly, he is the weak link for RR. His batting form has been low throughout the season. And he is struggling with an injury in the last two games, which is clearly visible. He is unable to bend down on the field. So he is struggling with fitness and form. But he could come good at the right time. Beware of the injured player in big matches is a famous saying in sports.”
On the other hand, former CSK batter reckons Yashasvi Jaiswal has performed decently for RR in the ongoing season. Jaiswal has scored 397 runs in 14 matches at an average of 33.08 and a strike rate of 159.43.
“His form has been worrisome only if you compare it to other top players. But he has given decent performances, and it’s not his worst season. But because Vaibhav Suryavanshi is at the other end, Jaiswal is also getting judged by Suryavanshi’s standards,” said Badrinath on Jaiswal (via the aforementioned source).
“In any other country, Jaiswal would be in the national T20I team. It’s only because he’s in India that he isn’t getting opportunities. But he can be expected to deliver come the big game.”
RR will take on SRH in the Eliminator at New Chandigarh on Wednesday.
