South Africa will lock horns against India in the second ODI at St George’s Park, Gqeberha on Tuesday. India took a 1-0 lead in the series after convincingly winning the opening game by eight wickets with 200 balls to spare and they will aim to carry the good form.
South Africa, on the other hand, could not show any resistance with the bat as they were bundled out for 116 runs after winning the toss. Ergo, they will look to turn the tables and come up with a more collective effort.
Arshdeep Singh was the star of the show as he bagged his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs (5-37) and became the first Indian bowler to take a fifer in South Africa.
Singh was able to make the most of the favorable conditions and bowled in the right areas to reap his rewards. Furthermore, Avesh Khan returned with impressive figures of 4-27, which are also the best of his career.
Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan impressed on his debut and became the 17th Indian batter to score a fifty in his maiden ODI innings. Moreover, Shreyas Iyer continued his good form, scoring 52 runs in the run-chase. Thus, India came up with a dominant performance as they were able to tick all the right boxes.
South Africa will want their batters to take more onus and bat responsibly as they had thrown their wickets in testing conditions. The experienced batters will have to step up for the Proteas to help them stay alive in the series.
Match Prediction: With momentum on their side, India will start as slightly favorites against South Africa.
