Former Indian Test opener Sadagopan Ramesh believes Jasprit Bumrah is not fully fit amid the ongoing IPL 2026. Bumrah hasn’t been able to bring his best to the table in the ongoing season. The ace pacer conceded 45 runs in his four overs against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Monday and also went wicketless.
Furthermore, the gun fast bowler bowled three no balls and as many wides. He also dismissed Himmat Singh on a no-ball.
Bumrah has scalped three wickets in 10 matches at an average of 109.66 and an economy rate of 8.89 in IPL 2026.
Ramesh said on Star Sports, “I don’t think he is at his peak fitness. His average speed itself is around 129 to 130 KPH this season. He is not able to consistently bowl at 140 km/h. And when he tries to do it suddenly, it’s backfiring. His USP is his yorkers, and for yorkers to be effective, the pace to beat the batter is very important. If you bowl the same yorker at 129 speeds, the batter will easily play it. The same ball at 145 will turn into a wicket-taking delivery.”
The former flamboyant batter said Bumrah not bowling well is making other MI bowlers panic. MI haven’t able to bring their best with the ball in this season.
“Bumrah is definitely fatigued from continuous play. The fact that he’s not able to touch high speeds is worrying. At least till two matches before, he was economical. But now he’s also starting to go for runs. Bumrah not bowling well is also possibly making the other MI bowlers panic,” said Ramesh (via the aforementioned source).
Mumbai Indians will next take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Raipur on Sunday.
