India’s veteran batter Rohit Sharma said he knows how to handle pressure and the outside noise after the third ODI against England. It was earlier reported that Rohit would play his final ODI game at Lord’s but he answered the critics in style.

Rohit scored a magnificent knock of 138 runs off 110 balls in the third ODI at the iconic venue on Sunday as he became the first Indian batter to score an ODI century at Lord’s. However, his efforts went in vain as India could not chase down a gargantuan total of 388 runs and fell short by 27 runs in the end.

The veteran batter scored 17 fours and five sixes in his blistering knock as he batted at the top of his game. 

Rohit Sharma said on BCCI.TV, “My job is with the bat, represent my country and the team. I’ve been told to do that since my debut and that’s what I am going to do going forward. The noise, since I made him debut was there. And till the time I am going to stay here, it’s always going to be there.”

“So it doesn’t really matter too much and what matters is what I do on the field. My focus is only to contribute to the success of the team. Let the noise be there. If there is no noise, there is no fun. My job is inside and their job is outside. That’s how I look at it.”

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma added 113 runs off 86 balls with Virat Kohli for the second wicket, and the Indian opener said it is always nice to bat with the long-term teammate.

“We’ve played our entire career together. It was nice to have him in the middle and it’s always fun batting together. We understand each other so much and it’s always nice bouncing off ideas in the middle. So we had a lot of conversations in between when we were batting,” said Rohit (via the aforementioned source).

Rohit will be next seen in the ODI series against the West Indies in September.
