India’s experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is on the cusp of making history ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Jadeja has all the experience under his belt and has returned to India’s Test squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka.

The left-arm orthodox spinner has scalped 348 wickets in 89 Test matches at an average of 25.12, and he is going to hold the key in Sri Lankan conditions. Jadeja is only two wickets away from becoming the fourth player to have 4000 Test runs and 350 wickets after Kapil Dev, Ian Botham and Daniel Vettori.

On the other hand, India’s former World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev finished his career with 5248 runs and 434 wickets. Dev was once the highest wicket-taker in the red-ball version of the game and he is regarded as one of the best seam-bowling all-rounders of all time.

Meanwhile, former England captain Sir Ian Botham scored 5200 runs in 102 Test matches and scalped 383 wickets at an average of 28.4.

Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori bagged 362 wickets in 113 Test matches at an average of 34.37 and scored 4531 runs in his red-ball career at an average of 30.01.

Meanwhile, India has named four spinners in the squad for the Sri Lanka series. Barring Jadeja, Manav Suthar, Kuldeep Yadav and Saransh Jain are the three spinners. Jadeja will lead the spin attack and would look to guide Manav Suthar and Saransh Jain on the right track.

The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka will be played at Galle from August 15 onwards.
