Former Indian bowling coach R Sridhar stated that Rohit Sharma has the same intensity and keenness as Virat Kohli, which is not often highlighted. Rohit has also worked hard on his fitness in the recent past and has performed consistently over the years for the team.

Meanwhile, Kohli is known for his aggressive approach on the field whereas Rohit has a calm demeanor. However, Rohit never shies from sharing his two cents if any player comes up with a casual effort on the field.

Both Rohit and Kohli are also terrific fielders and Sridhar observed the duo from close quarters during his coaching stint with the team from 2014 to 2021.

R Sridhar said on Subramaniam Badrinath YouTube Channel, “Rohit was similar to Virat. Many people would assume, looking at Rohit, that he doesn’t have the intensity or is too laid-back. That’s completely wrong. He had the same intensity and keenness as Virat but just did things differently. It was important to know the person more than the player as each one was different.”

Sharing his views of working with Virat Kohli, Sridhar added, “He was a player who needed to be pushed and had to always be challenged. You had to match his intensity as a coach in a fielding drill or throwdown. He always wanted to be challenged and used to hate comfort-zone practice. Everything had to be outside the comfort zone for him.”

On the other hand, former Indian fielding coach said Ravichandran Ashwin was always curious and would ask question on everything.

“Someone like Ashwin was extremely curious and would ask questions on everything. Once he had the answers to it all, he would be happy,” said R Sridhar (via the aforementioned source).

Rohit and Virat will be seen in action in the ODI series against the West Indies whereas Ashwin has announced his International retirement.
