Punjab batter Naman Dhir and Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi Dar have received their maiden ODI call-up for the three-match series against the West Indies. Recently, there were doubts raised on Rohit Sharma’s future, but the veteran has been retained in the ODI squad along with Virat Kohli.
KL Rahul has been named as the vice-captain of the squad and he will take over from Shreyas Iyer, who was Shubman Gill’s deputy in the ODI series against England. Iyer will lead the Indian team in the one-off T20I against Japan as well as the Asian Games that overlap with the one-dayers. Nitish Kumar Reddy has been withdrawn from the Asian Games in favour of the ODIs.
There is no place for Rishabh Pant in the ODI squad, with Dhruv Jurel being backed as second wicket-keeper. Pant, meanwhile, will lead Rest of India in the Irani Cup.
Kuldeep Yadav has been in both the ODI and T20I squads against the West Indies, whereas Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav also return to the squad.
