India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel has backed Rohit Sharma to turn his form around ahead of the third ODI against England. The former South African pacer admitted that the new ball has been moving around in tough English conditions and thus it hasn’t been easy for Rohit Sharma.

However, Morkel is confident that Rohit will make the most of his experience to get the big runs in the final ODI of the series. Rohit has looked a bit rusty in the two ODIs against England. Rohit was dismissed after scoring 11 runs off 21 balls in the opening ODI at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Tuesday after he advanced down the track against Sam Curran but holed out to Harry Brook at mid-off.

Furthermore, Rohit could only manage 26 runs off 47 balls in the second ODI at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on Thursday. After facing nine dot balls on the bounce, Rohit went for the sweep against Will Jacks but managed a bottom edge, which ballooned to Jos Buttler.

“As I said earlier, it’s hard work with a new ball up front. We have seen throughout the series that the ball is moving around. So batting up front isn’t easy,” Morkel said at the pre-match press conference.

“No doubt Rohit will work it out. He has done it in the past, drawing on his experience. And he just brings that calmness to the batting line-up. So, without a doubt, no worries and concerns at all with the way he is going about things,” Morkel said.

Rohit has worked on his fitness, and he has also delivered consistently in the 50-over format. It was recently reported that Rohit will play his final ODI at Lord’s, but BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has dismissed such claims.
