Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has showered praise on Suryakumar Yadav for his match-winning knock against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday. India was struggling at 77-6 but SKY’s knock of 84 runs off just 49 balls lifted the hosts to 161 runs after they were put into bat.
SKY smashed 10 fours and four sixes to help India post a decent score on the board after they found themselves under the cosh. The Indian skipper was the lone warrior in the batting innings as he delivered the goods.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj returned with impressive figures of 3-29 in his quota of four overs to restrict the USA to 132. Siraj was making a comeback into T20Is after a long gap of 19 months but he was able to hit the ground running in an all-important World Cup match.
After the game, Siraj was given the Impact Player of the Match medal by the team management.
Speaking to BCCI.TV, Siraj said, “Thank you Daya. Surya bhai, what an innings. Jaisa apne team ko jahan tak pauchana tha, vahan tak paunchaya hai. As a bowler, jaisa bowling department mein bhi they. Hum log soche ki 170 is a good score. Arshdeep ne jaisa bowling kiya powerplay mein partnership mein. Overall, good performance. Momentum jo abhi bana hai usko waise hee carry karna hai. Good luck to everyone. (Surya bhai, what an innings. The way you got us to the target. We thought 170 was a good score. The way Arshdeep bowled in the powerplay was also excellent. Overall, good performance. Whatever momentum we have, we will look to carry it on. Good luck to everyone).”
India will next take on Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on February 12.
