Mohammad Shami urges Indian fast bowlers to talk to Jasprit Bumrah and learn from him ahead of 2nd Test against England

Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami wants Indian pacers to have a discussion with Jasprit Bumrah and learn from him ahead of the 2nd Test match against England. Shami reckons if other fast bowlers will support Bumrah, India could go on to win against England.

Bumrah was the lone warrior in the first innings of the opening Test as he returned with impressive figures of 5-83. But Bumrah went wicketless in the second innings after bowling 19 overs and he is expected to be rested for the second Test to manage his workload.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur could not provide support to their pack leader as they did not hit the right areas consistently.

Mohammad Shami said on his YouTube Channel, “In bowling, other Indian bowlers should talk to Bumrah and learn from him. They should talk about planning with him and support him. If they will support Bumrah, then we can easily win the match. If I talk about the first match, then I think we need to do a little work in the bowling.”

“Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets each in the 2nd innings, but by the time Shardul dismissed two England batters, the match was out of India’s reach.”

“Everyone says that batting in England is difficult, but our batters are doing fine, and we need to think more about bowling and fielding. Bumrah ka saath dena hoga. It is very important to take wickets with the new ball. Bhut zaruri hai ki Bumrah ka koi saath de. England won the first Test because we gave too many easy runs. We need to find out how to make our bowling side strong.”

On the other hand, India was poor in the field and dropped eight catches during the Test match, which cost them a lot. Shami said the visitors can’t afford to drop catches at the top level.

“We dropped a lot of catches, and we need to work on it because at this level you can’t drop easy catches and do misfielding because the match can slip, which eventually did as well,” said Shami.

The second Test match between India and England will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham from July 2nd onwards.
