Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth has showered praise on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s heroics in the Duleep Trophy. In the semifinal of the tournament against Central Zone, Sooryavanshi scored impressive knocks of 92 and 40 runs and played a key role in East Zone’s win.

The left-hander is batting with an aggressive approach and has delivered against the world-class bowlers. Sooryavanshi also scored a fine knock of 44 runs off 37 in the first innings of the Duleep Trophy final against South Zone but was dismissed while playing a pull shot on Sunday.

Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “He’s playing outstandingly well. He must be encouraged and never be discouraged. If he’s molded properly, he’ll be a superstar in the making. He’ll bring Test cricket back to its glory. Everyone watched the Duleep Trophy because of him. Even my wife is watching because of him. He’ll be a big asset going forward for World cricket.”

The 1983 World Cup-winning player said Sooryavanshi is going to rule over the cricketing world in all three formats of the game.

“He played incredibly well. How can people even doubt whether this boy on whether he is capable of playing higher-level cricket? He can play every level of cricket, and he is going to rule World cricket shortly in all formats. He’s smashing medium pacers with no worries for straight sixes in red-ball cricket. He’s toying with the bowlers,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).

“Once he stabilizes and proves his thing, he’ll be in a different level. He also won the match for them with another valuable knock in the second innings. But he’s getting out in the 90s all the time. He must have missed five centuries just this season.”

Sooryavanshi had hogged the limelight after scoring 776 runs in 16 matches of IPL 2026.
