Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth praised Gujarat Titans’ think tank for getting the best out of their players after they registered a comprehensive 82-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, in the ongoing IPL 2026 on Tuesday.
Srikkanth highlighted that Mohammed Siraj was terrible for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the past but he has turned a corner with Gujarat Titans. Siraj returned with impressive figures of 1-11 in three overs he bowled, accounting for Travis Head.
Similarly, Srikkanth reckons GT have got the best out of Sai Sudharsan, who is currently second in the highest run-getter list with 501 runs in 12 matches at an average of 41.75 and a strike rate of 155.10.
Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “Siraj was terrible with RCB. But here, he has become a deadly bowler. Similarly, no other team would have even taken Sai Sudarshan. Yet, GT have transformed him to a different level. He has made Washington Sundar score at No.4 and turned him into a batting allrounder.”
“They have a brilliant bowling lineup. And they still have Washington Sundar, who they don’t use only. Jason Holder doesn’t even give 25 to 30 runs every match. He bowls brilliantly in the middle overs and takes wickets for them.”
The 1983 World Cup winning player praised Sudharsan for his accurate judgement of the pitch. The left-hander scored 61 runs off 44 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes.
“Sai Sudharsan assessed the wicket brilliantly. Immediately after two overs, he realized it wasn’t a 200 wicket. He knew if they played their usual Grand Trunk express rate of getting to 170 to 175, they would win. He played within his limitations and never went for big shots to get his runs,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).
“He’s not some flamboyant cricketer. But see how he scores almost every match across conditions. I want to salute Sai. I’ve not seen a player like him, adapting to conditions and playing very well. No one is talking about him despite his remarkable consistency this year. In fact, even his strike rate is very good. His game awareness and wicket awareness are exemplary.”
Gujarat Titans will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Saturday.
