Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan said it would be difficult for Karun Nair to find a place in Delhi Capitals’ playing XI in IPL 2026. Barring scoring a majestic knock of 89 runs off just 40 balls against the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025, Nair could not do much of notice.
The right-handed batter scored 198 runs in eight matches of IPL 2025 at an average of 24.75 and a strike rate of 172.17, and thus could not deliver consistently for Delhi Capitals.
Irfan Pathan said on his YouTube Channel, “The batter who played Bumrah the best last year was Karun Nair. But I think at the start, it will be difficult for him to find a place in the playing XI.”
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals were able to rope in David Miller and also have the services of Tristan Stubbs, who has an impressive record from overs 16 to 20.
“They brought Miller in, and Tristan Stubbs was already there, who has excellent stats. In the last two years, he has scored more than 400 runs in 16 to 20 overs at a strike rate of over 200. No one has scored more runs than him in these five overs in the last two years.”
Pathan reckons DC have been able to plug in the finishing hole by acquiring David Miller in the auction.
“They got David Miller at his base price. So, they have done what they felt was missing last year, lagging in finishing the matches. They have two overseas players for that role now,” he elaborated.
Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants at Lucknow on 1st April.
