IPL 2025: Shreyas Iyer hails Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis after win against Mumbai Indians

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer showered praise on the batting duo of Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglish after they registered a seven-wicket win against Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Monday.

With this victory, PBKS were able to secure a top-two finish in the points table for the first time since 2014. Meanwhile, PBKS lost the early wicket of in-form Prabhsimran Singh in the run-chase of 185 against MI.

However, Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis were able to steady the ship with the latter adopting an aggressive approach. Inglis completed his maiden IPL fifty off just 29 balls whereas Arya also scored his runs at a decent rate.

While Arya scored 62 runs off 35 balls, Inglis added 73 runs off 42 balls to help their team get over the line and qualify for the first qualifier.

Praising Priyansh Arya, Iyer said in the post-match press conference after the win, “The way he started was fabulous. It was pleasing to the eye and every individual has been fearless. They tick the boxes in the net sessions and the reflection of it is seen on the ground.”

On the other hand, the Mumbai batter also heaped praise on Josh Inglis, who was finally able to convert his start.

Iyer added, “He loves playing the new ball, and I wanted him to play more deliveries. And I know he can be disruptive, he is a big match player. Hope he continues the same way.”

The PBKS captain hailed the collective effort of the whole team and praised Ricky Ponting for backing him to the hilt.

Iyer concluded, “I personally feel everyone stepped up at the right time. We have been in that mindset that we have to win no matter what situation. Kudos to everyone and the management. Ricky has been fantastic, and for me it was about gaining the trust of every individual. And that happened by winning matches, and I personally feel we need to maintain that relationship throughout.”

Punjab Kings will face either Royal Challengers Bengaluru or Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier at Chandigarh on Thursday.
