Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar credited his bowlers after a 11-run win against Rajasthan Royals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Thursday. RCB posted a competitive score of 205 runs on the board and they were able to restrict the opposition to 194-9 to secure a crucial win.
Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal scored 70 and 50 runs respectively and added 95 runs for the second wicket to help their team get past the 200-run mark.
On the other hand, Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for RCB, returning with impressive figures of 4-33. The Australian accounted for Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel and Jofra Archer and also conceded only one run in the penultimate over of the innings after Bhuvneshwar Kumar was taken for 22 runs in the 18th over.
Furthermore, Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma did a fantastic job in the middle overs for RCB. Pandya returned with 2-31 whereas the leg-spinner conceded the same number of runs but didn’t get a wicket.
Rajat Patidar said in the post-match presentation, “That was a much-needed win. Today the wicket was different and all credit goes to the bowlers after the 10th over. The way they showed courage was tremendous. Initially they batted beautifully, credit goes to them as well. We were searching for wickets, when you get wickets only you can stop runs. I always back my instincts first but we have a team of great leaders and their inputs helps a lot.”
This was RCB’s first win at home in the ongoing season and they are in a commanding position to qualify for the playoffs after six wins in nine games.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru will next take on Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Sunday.
