Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel urged his team to improve fielding and bowling in the Powerplay after a hammering 10-wicket loss against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Sunday. DC posted 199-3 on the board after KL Rahul’s century and Patel thought it was a par score.
However, the DC skipper reckons the pitch got better in the second innings and GT were able to capitalise. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill scored 108 and 93 runs respectively to add 205 runs for the opening alliance.
Sudharsan and Gill continued their rich form as they batted at the top of their game and DC bowlers had no answers to their onslaught.
DC bowlers conceded 59 runs in the first six overs as Gill and Sudharsan played fine knocks to get their team over the line.
Axar Patel said in the post-match presentation, “Obviously, the way they batted, if you don’t lose wickets, the chase becomes easy. I thought the wicket got better as the game progressed. I thought it was a par score, the way we finished, KL was superb, we thought this was a good score. The bowlers tried hard, but we couldn’t win today.”
He added, “The way we batted was a big positive, need to improve our fielding and the bowling in the powerplay. The wicket got better in the 2nd innings, it was stopping and gripping in the first innings, but not in the second. Once a batter gets set, it becomes easier to bat.”
With this win, GT, along with RCB and PBKS have qualified for the playoffs.
Delhi Capitals will next take on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday.
