The five-time champions Mumbai Indians will lock horns against Lucknow Super Giants in the 67th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Friday. It will be a dead-rubber contest as MI have been knocked out of the tournament whereas LSG are all but out of the 17th edition of the IPL.
LSG had made it to the playoffs in the previous two seasons but they could not bring their best in the ongoing season. They had a great chance to make it to the last four but they received a drubbing against SRH and also suffered a 19-run loss against DC, which has now put them on the elimination gates.
LSG has a poor Net Run Rate of -0.787 and they will need to win by a gargantuan margin to have an iota of chance of confirming their playoffs berth. Moreover, they will need other results to go their way.
On the other hand, it has been a really disappointing season for Mumbai Indians. Hardik Pandya failed to lead from the front and the team also could not come up with a collective effort. Jasprit Bumrah has been the lone warrior with the ball whereas they lacked consistent performances in the batting department.
Both of these teams will want to end their season on a high and come back stronger in the next edition of the tournament.
Match Prediction: Lucknow Super Giants will enter the contest as favorites against Mumbai Indians.
