Dhoni once again led CSK with aplomb and took them to their fifth IPL title, the joint-most with Mumbai Indians. Dhoni also confirmed that he will try to play another season of the IPL before hanging his boots.
CSK defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets (DLS method) in the summit clash of IPL 2023. The Yellow Army won the thrilling contest after Ravindra Jadeja scored 10 runs off the last two balls against Mohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, Shivam Dube impressed in IPL 2023 as he scored 418 runs in 14 innings at an average of 38 and a blistering strike rate of 158.33. Ergo, he played an instrumental role in taking CSK to glory in IPL 2023.
Furthermore, the pugnacious left-hander scored a crucial knock of 32 runs off just 21 balls in the all-important final against Gujarat Titans to help his team win an emphatic contest.
“I don’t know whether he will be playing next season or not, but we need him, so that we can grow under him. Mahi bhai gave me clarity of thought,” said Dube in an interview with Indian Express.
Dube revealed Dhoni told him about his role and he wanted to express himself while batting in the middle order.
“He told me what my role is. It was simple, he told me that I have to increase my run-rate, adding that even if I get out early no problem but try to complete the task given. The brief was clear,” Dube added.
Shivam Dube must have grown in confidence after his consistent performances for CSK and he used the long handle to good effect. Dube will look to carry a good show in the domestic circuit in order to make a case for himself for the national team’s selection.
