The All India Selection Committee has picked Jaydev Unadkat for the three-match ODI series against Australia whereas they retained the same squad for the last two Test matches. Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Shreyas Iyer are back in the ODI squad.
Patel and Iyer had missed the ODI series against New Zealand whereas Jadeja has made a prolific return to International cricket. This means the likes of Rajat Patidar and Shahbaz Ahmed, who were part of the New Zealand series, have been left out.
KL Rahul also returns to the ODI squad in place of KS Bharat. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will miss the first ODI due to personal reasons and Hardik Pandya will lead in his place. Rohit will be available for the last two ODI matches.
On the other hand, the selection committee has picked the same squad for the remaining two Test matches. KL Rahul has been retained in the squad despite his poor form but he hasn’t been given the designation of vice-captain on this occasion.
Jaydev Unadkat, who was released ahead of the Delhi Test match to take part in the Ranji Trophy final for Saurashtra, also returns to the Test squad.
The third Test match will be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore from March 1. The first ODI between India and Australia will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on March 17.
