England vs India, 4th Test – Stats Preview

    July 22, 2025

After a humdinger third Test match at Lord’s, Test cricket fans will hope for another spectacle in the fourth game of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy, set to be played at Old Trafford, Manchester, from Wednesday. England was able to bowl out India at 170 while defending 193 runs and their bowling unit deserves a lot of credit.

India has some injury woes in the bowling department with Nitish Kumar Reddy (whole series), Arshdeep Singh, and Akash Deep ruled out of the fourth Test. This could present an opportunity to Anshul Kamboj, or India could be tempted to give another go to Prasidh Krishna, who looked toothless in the first two games.

Karun Nair’s form is a concern for the visitors and it would be interesting to note if they would be able to accommodate Kuldeep Yadav in the final XI.

England, on the other hand, has made one change, with Liam Dawson replacing injured Shoaib Bashir.

    Stats Preview

Shubman Gill needs seven maximums to reach 50 sixes in the red-ball format.

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal needs four fours to complete 250 boundaries in the red-ball version.

Joe Root needs 31 runs to go past Rahul Dravid and Jacques Kallis on all all-time Test run scoring list. He needs 120 runs to go past Ponting into second place. The England veteran needs five sixes to reach 50 maximums in the oldest format.

England fast bowler Jofra Archer needs three wickets to complete 50 scalps in the red-ball version.

Harry Brook needs six sixes to complete 50 maximums in Tests.

England vice-captain Ollie Pope needs 13 runs to complete 3500 runs in the Test format.

Ben Duckett needs four fours to reach 350 boundaries in the multiday format.
