After the series opener between England and India was called off due to rain, the two teams will face each other at Old Trafford, Manchester on Saturday. India were coming off a disappointing result against Ireland and their batting performance against England in the first game, would have certainly added a shot in the arm.
Captain Shreyas Iyer and opener Abhishek Sharma scored 68 and 59 runs respectively, which would give them a lot of confidence. Furthermore, Shivam Dube smashed a 21-ball 42 cameo. Iyer scoring a fifty as a captain, will do him a world of good.
However, Sanju Samson could only manage a solitary run off seven deliveries, which has certainly increased shouts of including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the playing XI.
Samson was the star of the show in T20 World Cup and India is expected to give him a longer rope before putting their faith in the youngster. The Indian opener is known to go through such patches of poor form but it is well known that he is a match-winner on his day.
Meanwhile, Saqib Mahmood was the pick of the England bowlers in the opening game, returning with impressive figures of 3-33 in his quota of four overs.
