So far, nothing but disappointment has been seen in India’s dressing room on the UK tour. Doubts and questions would be obvious but the Men in Blue will look to turn a corner in new format with the help of some experienced players.
The first ODI between England and India will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Tuesday. The visitors will look to get their first win of the tour and get the monkey off their back. It would be a relief as India would welcome experienced players like KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah back into the set-up.
Kohli didn’t play in the ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury and there is no doubt that he would be the cynosure of all eyes. Rohit Sharma got off to starts against the Afghans but he would want to go big in a country, where he loves playing white-ball cricket.
Bumrah had looked toothless in IPL 2026 for Mumbai Indians but one expects him to bounce back like a champion.
Gurnoor Brar had impressed with his pace and bounce against Afghanistan and it would be interesting to note how he would do in English conditions.
On the other hand, England was able to tick the right boxes in the T20I series and Harry Brook would once again look to lead from the front.
