Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra has picked Lucknow Super Giants’ top-order as the franchise’s biggest strength ahead of IPL 2026. Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant, and Nicholas Pooran are going to be the top four batters for LSG in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
The trio of Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, and Nicholas Pooran had performed consistently for the team in the previous season of the tournament.
“The batting firepower, the top four, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant, if all four of them remain in form, they could actually be the most explosive top four of this tournament. They could be the Fab Four because all are mighty,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel.
Chopra highlighted the consistent performances of the overseas trio of Markram, Marsh and Pooran in the last season.
“Mitchell Marsh is in great form, it seems like Aiden Markram is not getting out at all, Nicholas Pooran keeps hitting sixes, and before leaving, we also saw Rishabh Pant’s flip. A century came from his bat. They became the first team for whom three overseas players scored 400-plus runs in a season. So that is their biggest strength. Their top four are outstanding,” he observed.
On the other hand, the renowned commentator also praised LSG’s fast bowling battery ahead of the season.
“They have many fast-bowling resources. They have Akash Singh, who is brilliant, Avesh Khan, who is again a very good bowler, Mohammad Shami, Mohsin Khan, Anrich Nortje, Prince Yadav, Arjun Tendulkar and Mayank Yadav. There are some serious fast-bowling resources available with them,” he said.
The former KKR batter said bowling coach Bharat Arun is expected to get the best out of the LSG’s fast bowling battery.
“If we look at it from that point of view, the fast-bowling reserves look very, very promising. Bharat Arun is also there now. I am expecting him to make this bowling unit slightly better. I see variety when I look at the spinners,” Chopra observed.
LSG will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against the Delhi Capitals on 1st April at Lucknow.
