Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra has praised Nitish Kumar Reddy after Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a comprehensive 33-run win against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Reddy scored a fine cameo of 29 runs off just 13 balls with the help of two fours and as many sixes. He added 63 runs off 32 balls with Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 69 runs off 43 balls. SRH were able to post a par score of 234 runs on the board after Shreyas Iyer decided to bowl first.
Furthermore, Reddy dismissed in-form Prabhsimran Singh with Pat Cummins taking a good catch and he returned with figures of 1-11 in two overs he bowled. Chopra rated Reddy as the best all-rounder of the ongoing IPL 2026 at this moment.
Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel, “He is the best all-rounder of this tournament at the moment. No other all-rounder has scored 200 runs and taken five or more wickets. The team suddenly started looking weak when he missed a match. He was unwell, and the moment he comes back, looks brilliant.”
Chopra praised Reddy for working hard and increasing his speed in the recent past.
“He is bowling in different phases. Why does your pace increase? It’s because you feel you need to increase your pace. The pace won’t increase automatically. He realized he had to do something. So he worked for that and has come after increasing his pace,” he elaborated.
The renowned commentator added that Reddy has done a good job in the Powerplay and middle overs.
“He bowls seam-up deliveries in the Powerplay and picks up crucial wickets. He gives one or two overs in the middle overs as well. He has been consistently performing and contributing,” Chopra observed.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next take on Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
